Conclusion: In the first week post-transplant, tacrolimus trough concentrations after standard mg/kg dosing post liver transplant appear to be corrected by total bodyweight. We used Pearson’s Chi-squared analysis to compare proportions, hazard models to assess survival differences and calculated disability-adjusted life years (DALYs). Results: Indigenous women were more likely to be socially disadvantaged (43 vs. 20 %, p < 0.01) have comorbidity (42 vs. 18 % p < 0.01), and have regional spread or distant metastasis (metastasis, 51 vs. 36 %, p = 0.02) than non-Indigenous women; there was no difference in treatment patterns. More Indigenous women died in the follow-up period (p = 0.01). DALY’s were 469 and 665 per 100,000 for Indigenous and non-Indigenous women, respectively, with a larger proportion of the burden attributed to premature death among the former (63 vs. 59 %). Conclusions: Indigenous women with breast cancer received comparable treatment to their non-Indigenous counterparts. The higher proportion of DALYs related to early death in Indigenous women suggests higher fatality with breast cancer in this group. Later stage at diagnosis and higher comorbidity presence among Indigenous women reinforce the need for early detection and improved management of co-existing disease.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:41:31 AEDT ]]> The development and evaluation of an oncological palliative care deprescribing guideline: the 'OncPal deprescribing guideline' https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:27289 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:40:21 AEDT ]]> Where is the radiobiology and pharmacology research to improve outcomes in glioblastoma? https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:28464 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:39:34 AEDT ]]> Issues of pharmacogenomics in monitoring warfarin therapy https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:28531 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:28:43 AEDT ]]> Determination of a suitable voriconazole pharmacokinetic model for personalised dosing https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:23319 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:13:30 AEDT ]]> Using the apparent diffusion coefficient to identifying MGMT promoter methylation status early in glioblastoma: importance of analytical method https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:26160 Mon 22 Jul 2019 13:58:34 AEST ]]> Patterns of primary health care service use of Indigenous Australians diagnosed with cancer https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:46209 Mon 14 Nov 2022 11:43:52 AEDT ]]> Defining and classifying terminology for medication harm: a call for consensus https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:47953 Mon 13 Feb 2023 14:06:54 AEDT ]]> Use of caller ID and text messaging from cell phones to increase response rates in patient surveys https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:54731 Mon 11 Mar 2024 14:12:22 AEDT ]]> A validated method for the detection of 32 bath salts in oral fluid https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:31928 Mon 09 Apr 2018 08:51:09 AEST ]]> A randomised controlled trial of vaporised Δ⁹-tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol alone and in combination in frequent and infrequent cannabis users: acute intoxication effects https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:36056 Mon 03 Feb 2020 11:52:08 AEDT ]]> A validated method for the detection of synthetic cannabinoids in oral fluid https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:45500 Fri 28 Oct 2022 16:00:31 AEDT ]]> Unmet supportive care needs among people with cancer: a cross-cultural comparison between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Australians https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42101 n = 125) and Non‐Indigenous (n = 125) Australian adults diagnosed with cancer. Descriptive statistics were used to compare type and prevalence of 24 need items measured by the SCNS‐SF34 and SCNAT‐IP. Results: A higher proportion of Non‐Indigenous participants compared to Indigenous participants reported having any moderate‐to‐high level of unmet needs (70% vs. 54%, p = 0.013) and the difference was consistently observed across non‐matched characteristics. While concerns for caregivers, fear of recurrence and pain were central needs for both Indigenous participants and Non‐Indigenous participants, there were some key differences in the specific unmet needs between groups. Physical issues including doing usual daily activities and dealing with fatigue were the top priorities for Non‐Indigenous people, while money worries, dealing with psychological issues such as how to keep their spirit strong or hope about their future appeared to be priorities for Indigenous people. Conclusions: Variations in the unmet supportive care needs between Indigenous and Non‐Indigenous people with cancer may guide health professionals to target specific needs when preparing care plans.]]> Fri 23 Jun 2023 08:45:29 AEST ]]> Dried Blood Spot Sampling in the Monitoring of Anticancer Therapy for Solid Tumors: A Systematic Review https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:53882 0.872; correlation coefficient, r = 0.87, P < 0.0001).
